Famous for stepping to the music, drum and bugle corps are also well known for stepping up to help fellow musicians in times of trouble.

The Capital Sound Drum & Bugle Corps didn’t miss a beat when it was asked to help the badly damaged community of Enterprise, Ala., where a massive tornado tore apart the high school and killed eight students on Thursday. At least one other person was also killed in the town of 23,000, about 75 miles southwest of Montgomery.

The response from Capital Sound members, and other drum corps including the Madison Scouts and the Blue Stars of La Crosse, was immediate.

By Friday evening, volunteers had established an account at Anchor Bank - named Capital Sound to Help Enterprise High - for cash donations, and were negotiating with the McFarland School District for space to store donated aid items. They were also figuring out collection drop points.
