The Sky Ryders return

The Sky Ryders, a drum and bugle corps based in Hutchinson from about 1955 to 1990, will have a reunion here in late July.

The reunion will coincide with a Drum Corps International show, slated for July 26 at Gowans Stadium. Tickets for Starlite Drum-o-Rama can be purchased at Sunflower Electric Supply Inc., 100 West 2nd, or by calling (888) 547-6478.

An after-show party for Sky Ryders’ alumni and friends is slated July 26 at the Anchor Inn, 126 South Main. On Saturday, a picnic is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carey Park for Sky Ryders’ families. That night, a buffet dinner for adults will start at 7 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Hotel and Convention Center, 1400 North Lorraine.

The cost is $75 per Sky Ryder family, which includes a reunion T-shirt and DVD.

Drum And Bugle Corps Celebrate 50 Years

Tonight Marquette County’s only drum and bugle corps performs in Ishpeming, marking its fiftieth year of making music.

The Blue Notes have been around since 1957. To honor the milestone, past and present members will perform together.
