Many drum corps fans were disappointed in June of 2004 when none of the blue arm-chair seats for Drums Along the Red Cedar (DARC) were available for purchase at the Don and Nona Williams Stadium gate. They had been sold out online before the gates opened to fans from 13 States. 2005 tickets began selling on-line Feb. 12, and have already been sold to fans in three counties. Mail-order forms are also available for printing from the event Web site: www.darc.us.

The 2005 edition of the Drum and Bugle Corps Show, voted best 2004 Midwest show by drum corps directors, will be held at Don and Nona Williams stadium, UW-Stout, Sunday, June 19, 2005. The event is organized under the Greater Menomonie Area Community Foundation (GMACF) to support community music.

Title sponsors for the event are WESTconsin Credit Union, Chippewa Valley Newspapers, Inc. and Charter Communications.

The 2005 DARC event will honor the history and musical service of the Ludington Guard Band, and will include a record number of drum corps from some of the top corps in the world. The scheduled show line-up includes: Madison Scouts, Madison; Blue Knights, Denver, Colo.; Colts, Dubuque, Iowa; Troopers, Casper, Wyo.; Blue Stars, La Crosse; Americanos, Menasha; Capital Sound, Madison; Minnesota Brass, St. Paul, Minn.; and Chops, Inc., Minneapolis, Minn.

According to Community Sponsorship Chairperson for the event, Jake Bostrom, a record number of sponsors are already supporting the 2005 event, but sponsorships are still available. Sponsorship forms and information are available by calling (715) 235-0120, or on the Web in portable document format at: www.darc.us/yes.

Since its inception, community music groups receiving cash grants from the proceeds of DARC events have included Menomonie High School Band Boosters, Menomonie Community Choir, the Dunn County Barbershop Harmony Singers, Menomonie Theater Guild (musical productions) and the Ludington Guard Band. DARC has also established a youth marching music scholarship through the GMACF to assist with drum corps participation costs. Details on how youth may apply for these scholarships beginning with the 2005-2006 school year will be announced as a part of the 2005 event.
