Winston-Salem To Host Drum Corps ‘Preview Of Champions’
The Greater Winston-Salem Sports Commission announced Tuesday that Winston-Salem will host the 2005 Drum Corps Associates “Preview of Champions” on July 30 at 7 p.m. at Groves Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University.
The event will bring together seven of the best drum corps units in the nation, including the San Francisco Renegades, who will showcase their internationally acclaimed Loud Music Symposium South at the Benton Convention Center on July 29 at 9 p.m.
Also on July 29, at 5 p.m., the several corps will perform at Fourth Street Jazz, Blues and Beats until 10 p.m. Danny Raymond Jr., Percussion Caption Head for Carolina Gold of Research Triangle, will conduct a free percussion clinic for music students.
A portion of the proceeds from sponsorships for the Preview of Champions will benefit the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County High School music programs and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.
