The P132,750 total donations were the bulk of the gross proceeds in the ticket sales of the highly successful Alturas Drum and Bugle Corps Showdown 2005, which was held last November 27 at the CPG sports Complex.

All roads lead to the CPG Sports Complex today as the 18th Alturas Drum & Bugle Corps Showdown reels off this morning, preceded by a colorful parade at 8:30 a.m., starting at Plaza Rizal.
Billed as “the greatest show in town,” this year’s showdown features twelve of the best and the finest drum and bugle corps in the Visayas and Mindanao, in a big competition highlighted by a spectacular fireworks display in the closing part of the event.
Another highlight during the showdown is the Search for Miss Alturas Showdown 2005 where beauties from the participating contingents will vie for the most coveted crown. Kiddie mascots such as Jollibee, Hetty, Twirly, Mr. Yum, Chuckie of KFC, Woofy of World of Fun, Cheezie of Magnolia, and Kid Na Big of Dumex Milk will also entertain the crowd.
Thousands-worth of instant prizes will also be given away in the raffle bonanza that starts at 8 a.m..

The twelve participating contingents in final sequence are: Category A: CVSCAFT-Tagbilaran City Campus; Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, Gen. Santos City; Holy Cross Academy, Tubigon, Bohol; and University of Cebu; Category B: CVSCAFT- Main Campus, Bilar, Bohol; Holy Child Academy, Bien Unido, Bohol; Eugenio V. Amores Memorial High School, Sagbayan, Bohol; Labogon National High School, Mandaue City; St. Agustine Institute, Sagbayan, Bohol; and University of Bohol – Loon (formerly Loon Institute); Category C: Tagb. City Central Elem. School and Dao Elem. School – Dao Dist., Tagb. City.
The prizes to be awarded are as follows: Category A: Champion, P50,000 cash prize plus 48-inch trophy; First Runner-Up, P40,000 cash prize plus 42-inch trophy; Second Runner-Up, P30,000 cash prize plus 40-inch trophy; Category B: Champion, P40,000 cash prize plus 44-inch trophy; First Runner-Up, P30,000 cash prize plus 42-inch trophy; Second Runner-Up, P20,000 cash prize plus 40-inch trophy; Category C: Champion, P30,000 cash prize plus 44-inch trophy; First Runner-Up, P20,000 cash prize plus 42-inch trophy; Second Runner-Up, P10,000 cash prize plus 40-inch trophy.
A P1,000 cash prize plus trophy will also be awarded to the drum corps in each category adjudged as Best in Production Design, Best in Instrumentation, Best in Choreography, and Best in Rhythm and Dynamics. For all categories combined, a cash prize of P1,000 plus trophy is awarded to the Best in Uniform, Best in Discipline, Best in Parade Impact, Best Corps Major, Best Corps Majorette, Darling of the Crowd, Best in Entertainment, Most Colorful Corps, Best in Boholano Ambience, and Best in Synchronization.
In addition, handsome trophies are awarded to the Liveliest Corps, Most Elegant, Best in Projection, Most Promising Neophyte, Neophyte of the Year, Most Impressive Neophyte, and Most Inspiring Corps.
